Odin helm 1

Yes class, that is correct. This is the helm of the mighty Odin, more commonly found on DA as the mighty .

I was commissioned to do an original Odin helmet, not specifically based on historical helmets or pop culture, but somewhere in between. I incorporated the wings design, even if that seems somewhat stereotypical. The center design is a stylized raven, and carries around to the back as well.
It was a defunct bump cap I sawed the visor off and reversed.
The rest is constructed from fiberglass board, bondo epoxy sculpt clay (my first foray and I am in love), high tensile fencing wire pieces, and then paint, glaze, sealers and lacquers.

For me, I had a one of my faster turn-overs from creation to finish, and though there are a few steps I'd have done different, it has become a most satisfying piece.
And hopefully it'll have a fine run and the upcoming DragonCon.
