Full mugshot of the previous-tail-ender here- [link]

All together class......

:faint:
Isn't is astounding? Thank god for zoom lenses.
Though there is that temptation to just pet it.... hmmm, maybe not...
It was totally calm and polite, and even after the boys nearly trampled it and then gave it the long-stick poke, it gave a warning buzz, then went back to it's bunker.

So, hopefully we'll just all exist together and not accidentally hurt the other.

There were lots of rattlers where I grew up - they are pretty mellow and very beautiful. I love the viper shaped head. This one has lovely markings!

That head is awesome, there is something dragon-like to behold. And MOST rattlesnakes I've ever met are just mellow fat dragons that want to be left alone, not monsters.

I love snakes - I think they are SO beautiful! I've often thought of having one as a pet.

We have a bunch in our yard that I am always trying to catch but they are fast little buggers! There are just loads of super dark brown (like bark colored) garter snakes in our back yard, and I go "where ARE you little sneaky snakes???" but they just slip away from me. :frustrated:

My old cat is fascinated by them - he's never been an outside cat so he's never seen anything like that before and he hardly knows what to do with himself. lol He bats at them as they wind around and slither away from him and then he looks at me and me-yowls like I let it get away! But he never actually hurts them and they definitely don't hurt him. Besides, they are masters of camouflage and I know we only see a small percentage of them - they nest in our yard each winter. :aww:

Wow. Those are some amazing colors, and that is one big, fat, healthy looking snake. ^_^

It has been spotted for several years, and there are at a least a dozen layers of rattle-segements on the tail.
So it's older, and very healthy.
And since it hasn't bothered us, we're putting up a warning sign so no one will kill it.

good plan. It would be a pity if someone killed it.
